Hi! I had this freeform poem written since December but am only submitting this now. This poem is a freestyle, kind of cathartic piece about this month’s theme!
Heartbeat
Ebb and flow
Tide against sand
Shifting pasts and futures
In oceans of universe
No one has yet explored
Ba-dump!
Blood flows away
Out of the gash
Missed opportunities, feelings, rivers
Gone
And it comes back picked barren
For the heart to beat again
Cycle again
Again and again and again
You reach out a hand, to see them go
And to come back
And to go
And come back
Each time ripping out your
Beating love machine
And stitching it back up clumsily
So that a bit of the bubbling crimson blood
Peeks through the thread, and
Your heart
Beats again
And the cycle continues.
